This course is specifically designed for individuals who want to learn sewing skills and gain experience in the alterations field. A professional alterations seamstress will help you explore the tips and tricks of how to do the job easily, quickly and beautifully. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to fix/repair and remodel garments in general. As a result, you can save money and even earn money as an alterations seamstress.
Students should have a beginner level of sewing competency (sew straight seams, basic use of sewing machine).
Instructor: Tam Nguyen
Tam was born into a family of tailors and started learning and practicing sewing in her family store at a very early age. At the age of 28, she opened her own tailoring business, where she created clothing for clients as well as offered sewing classes. After arriving in Canada, Tam worked as an alteration seamstress for several large companies and is currently working for Magic Stitch Dry cleaners and Gentlemen's Clothing Consultants. Tam also manages the Sewing Club at Immigrant Women's Services Ottawa and excels at teaching. She is happy to share her professional and vast alterations experience with individuals looking to learn professional alteration skills.
All materials needed for the course are included in the class fee.
Written notice of cancellation may be processed with a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) two weeks prior to the course starting. Cancellations received 1 week prior to the course are eligible for a 50% refund unless there is a wait list for the course. Cancellations within the final week prior to the course are non-refundable unless there is a wait list for the course and the course can be run with full attendance.
