This course is specifically designed for individuals who want to learn new sewing skills and gain experience in the alterations field. A qualified professional alterations seamstress will help you explore the tips and tricks of how to do the job easily, quickly and beautifully.
Some of the alteration techniques you will learn how to:
- Hem men’s and women’s pants depending on the type of pants
- Take in and take out a pair of pants
- Taper a pair of pants -Replace a broken zipper
- Change the hem of a dress or skirt
- And many more
As a result, you can save money and even earn money altering garments.
Students will need a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and complete their garments EcoEquitable will supply the sewing machine during class as well as fabric when possible.
Prerequisite: Intermediate sewing ability or completed Sewing Basics II
Beginner sewing ability: very little knowledge of sewing
Intermediate sewing ability: Has some sewing knowledge able to successfully sew a garment following a pattern
Advanced sewing ability: Has been sewing for some time is able to follow a sewing pattern and also make fitting modifications to a pattern as well as garment design changes to patterns.

Written notice of cancellation may be processed with a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) two weeks prior to the course starting. Cancellations received 1 week prior to the course are eligible for a 50% refund unless there is a wait list for the course. Cancellations within the final week prior to the course are non-refundable unless there is a wait list for the course and the course can be run with full attendance.
