Sewing Basics II (March 7th to April 25th)

In this class you will be making a lined skirt with a facing and a kick pleat.
You will learn:
- What measurements you will need when making a skirt.
- How to read sewing pattern instructions
- How to use interfacing, and the different types of interfacing available
- How to sew a facing to a skirt, as well as sewing with lining
- Finish your seam edges, sew a kick pleat and a centered zipper.
- How to hem your skirt and the lining of your garment.
Students will need a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and complete their garments
EcoEquitable will supply the sewing machine during class as well as fabric when possible.
Homework will consist of about 2 hours per class
Prerequisite: Beginner sewing ability, Sewing Basics I
Beginner sewing ability: very little knowledge of sewing
Intermediate sewing ability: Has some sewing knowledge able to successfully sew a garment following a pattern
Advanced sewing ability: Has been sewing for some time is able to follow a sewing pattern and also make fitting modifications to a pattern as well as garment design changes to patterns

Written notice of cancellation may be processed with a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) two weeks prior to the course starting. Cancellations received 1 week prior to the course are eligible for a 50% refund unless there is a wait list for the course. Cancellations within the final week prior to the course are non-refundable unless there is a wait list for the course and the course can be run with full attendance.
