We are excited to offer this course with a qualified upholster as well as Sonja who has been offering Upholstery basics for the last year. In this class we take it up a notch a professional upholsterer will be there to help you reupholster your kitchen chair and also a side chair, brining new life into your furniture. If you would bring your chair to be reupholstered it would cost you a considerable amount, so this course is great value for your money.
In this class you will be taught how to:
Cover curves and corners with fabric using a pneumatic staple gun
Tear back the fabric of your existing chair, restructure the base
Choose the right fabric for your project
How to use cardboard tack strip and a metal tac strip to finish your chair
How to properly recover your kitchen chairs
Info Students will need a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and complete their projects EcoEquitable will supply the sewing machine during class as well as fabric when possible.
Beginner sewing ability: very little knowledge of sewing Intermediate sewing ability: Has some sewing knowledge able to successfully sew a garment following a pattern Advanced sewing ability: Has been sewing for some time is able to follow a sewing pattern and also make fitting modifications to a pattern as well as garment design changes to patterns.
Written notice of cancellation may be processed with a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) two weeks prior to the course starting. Cancellations received 1 week prior to the course are eligible for a 50% refund unless there is a wait list for the course. Cancellations within the final week prior to the course are non-refundable unless there is a wait list for the course and the course can be run with full attendance.
