Upholstery Basics (Sept 5th - Oct 24th)

Have you always wanted to make your own throw pillows in colours that would complement your decor, or make a new slip cover for your worn-out dining chair or armchair. If this is you then this is the class for you. This class is taught by a dressmaker who has worked for many years in the upholstery field.
You will learn how to:
- Make the pillow form, and throw pillow, with a zipper and without a zipper
- Measure and sew a cover for your sofa cushion
- Make piping, and how to sew piping into your cushions
- Make a slip cover for your dining room chairs
- Create a new slip cover for your armchair
You will need a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and complete their garments.
EcoEquitable will supply the sewing machine during class as well as fabric when possible. Homework will consist of about 3 hours per class.
Prerequisite: Intermediate sewing ability or Sewing Basics II
Beginner sewing ability: very little knowledge of sewing
Intermediate sewing ability: Has some sewing knowledge able to successfully sew a garment following a pattern
Advanced sewing ability: Has been sewing for some time is able to follow a sewing pattern and also make fitting modifications to a pattern as well as garment design changes to patterns.

Written notice of cancellation may be processed with a full refund (minus a 10% admin fee) two weeks prior to the course starting. Cancellations received 1 week prior to the course are eligible for a 50% refund unless there is a wait list for the course. Cancellations within the final week prior to the course are non-refundable unless there is a wait list for the course and the course can be run with full attendance.
